Four soldiers lost their lives in two days during the military operations in Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), according to the Ministry of National Defense (MSB).
One soldier lost his life and one other was wounded yesterday (August 15) in an attack by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) targeting a base set up by the army, said the MSB.
Three more soldiers were killed and two others were wounded in the explosion of an IED, the ministry said today.
"We wish God's mercy for our martyrs and our condolences to their grieving families," said the ministry.
The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) launched the "Claw" operations in the territory of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq's north on May 28, 2019. It was followed by Claw-2, Claw-3, Claw-Tiger, Claw-Eagle, Claw-Lightning, and Claw-Thunderbolt.
The operations, during which the TSK set up military bases in Hakurk and Sinat-Haftanin and several outposts near the Turkey border, are intended to prevent the activities of the PKK in the region. (EMK/VK)
