The Ministry of National Defense has announced that one soldier has lost his life in a mortar bomb attack carried out against the Turkish Armed Forces' "Operation Claw-Lightning" base area in Iraq's north.
Severely wounded in the attack, the soldier was reportedly taken to a hospital; however, he could not survive despite all efforts.
The military officials have informed the family of Infantry Specialized Sergeant Hakan Bali about the death of their son.
Bali reportedly took a leave of absence last week, visited his family in Adıyaman's Besni district and got engaged in a ceremony, after which he bidded farewell to the family and left for the military operation.
Operations Claw
Turkey launched the Claw-Lightning and Claw-Thunderbolt operations on April 23 in northern Iraq's Metina and Avasin-Basyan. The operations launched by the Turkish Armed Forces on the borders with the Iraqi Regional Government (KRG) continued with the operations of Claw, Claw-2, Claw-3, Claw-Tiger, Claw-Eagle, Claw-Lightning, Claw-Thunderbolt.
During the operations, the Turkish Armed Forces proceed by setting up military bases in Iraq's Hakurk and Sinat-Haftanin regions and settle in the region. (AÖ/SD)
