The Ministry of National Defense has announced that Infantry Specialized Sergeant Halil Çelebi lost his life in the Hakurk region in Iraq's north yesterday (July 26). The soldier was reportedly killed in a harassing fire opened on the forces leaving the base area for the road patrol.
The Ministry of National Defense's statement has indicated that "in the area of the Operation Claw (Iraq's North/ Hakurk), one heroic fellow soldier has fallen martyr as a result of a harassing fire opened by the members of the separatist terrorist organization on July 26, 2021."
Operations Claw
Turkey launched the Claw-Lightning and Claw-Thunderbolt operations on April 23 in northern Iraq's Metina and Avasin-Basyan. The operations launched by the Turkish Armed Forces on the borders with the Iraqi Regional Government (KRG) continued with the operations of Claw, Claw-2, Claw-3, Claw-Tiger, Claw-Eagle, Claw-Lightning, Claw-Thunderbolt.
During the operations, the Turkish Armed Forces proceed by setting up military bases in Iraq's Hakurk and Sinat-Haftanin regions and settle in the region. (TP/SD)
