The Ministry of National Defense has announced that an attack was launched against the Uncrewed Plane Systems Base Command in Batman and the 23rd Infantry Division Command in Şırnak.
Releasing a statement about the attempted attack in Batman, the Governor's Office has said that the incident happened at 11.10 p.m. yesterday (May 20): "An attempted attack took place by using 3 model planes. All model planes used were neutralized and no casualties were reported."
The Ministry of National Defense has also posted a statement on its social media account regarding the attempted attacks in southeast Turkey.
Stating that attempted attacks with model planes targeted the Uncrewed Plane Systems Base Command in Batman and the 23rd Infantry Division Command in Şırnak, it has said, "Both attacks were thwarted thanks to the vigilance of security forces, without any casualty or damage."
Similar incident in Diyarbakır on May 18
On the night of May 18, 2021, an attempted attack also targeted the Diyarbakır 8th Main Jet Base Command. In a statement about the issue, the Ministry of National Defense said that "there was no casualty or damage," adding that the security measures were increased. (TP/SD)
