Recognized as "one of the first 10 war robots in Turkey" by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) in 2020, the prototype of an armed uncrewed ground vehicle is on display in the Şanlıurfa Game and Toy Museum in southeast Turkey.
The war robot "Velit 1000" designed by Nasreddin Badıllı, a junior from Harran University Department of Electrics and Electronics in the same province, won the TÜBİTAK's intercollegiate competition in the Easteran and Southeastern Anatolia Region last year.
'Let it set children an example'
Karaköprü Mayor Metin Baydilli from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has said that the prototype of the robot is put on display so that it will set the children visiting the museum an example.
Baydilli has stated that they will always stand with all young people who make efforts for "domestic and national production".
Expressing his hopes that similar projects will be developed in the future, he has said, "We are really proud that a young person from our district has achieved nationwide success with such a project. We hope that he will climb the ladder of success further by developing these projects. We do it so that everyone who visits the museum knows this and takes it as an example. We hope that this project will be put into practice and benefit our country."
As for Nasreddin Badıllı, who has said that he developed the project in his village in the rural area, he has said, "We donate this prototype of ours to our toy museum so that it will set an example for the new generation." (AÖ/SD)
