The Ministry of National Defense has announced that contracted infantry Özgür Çelik has lost his life in an accident that occurred during repair and maintenance works in a military base area in Çukurca, Hakkari.
In a written statement issued by the Ministry of National Defense, it has been indicated that Çelik was wounded after a hand grenade exploded. The soldier was hospitalized after the incident; however, he has lost his life there.
The Ministry has announced the passing of the soldier on its official Twitter account, extending its condolences to "his grieved family, the Turkish Armed Forces and our noble nation":
