3 Journalists, 1 Director Detained

Criticizing the “Operation Olive Branch” launched into Afrin from Turkey on the social media, journalists Sibel Hürtaş, Hayri Demir, Seda Taşkın and director Fatih Kanat.

Homes of a large number of people including artists, politicians and journalists who denounced the military campaign launched into Afrin on social media have been raied.

According to Mezopotamya News Agency (MA), MA reporters Hayri Demir and Seda Taşkın, Artı TV Representative to Ankara Sibel Hürtaş and director Fatih Kanat were detained during home raids.

Baysal and Karakaş were detained as well

Halkın Nabzı Newspaper Editor-in-Chief İshak Karakaş, T24 writer Nurcan Baysal were detained yesterday (January 22). Besides, police raided homes of writer Aziz Tunç and journalist İsmail Eskin due to their social media posts about Afrin but they couldn’t be detained since they both are living abroad. (EA/TK)
