A corporal major has lost his life in the clashes in a rural area in Başkale district of Van province between security forces of Turkey and members of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
An operation was carried out in the rural area between Yolmaçayır and Gedikbaşı neighbourhoods 30 km away from Başkale district of Van in eastern Turkey in the morning hours today (June 7).
Clashes have occurred between a group of PKK members and soldiers from Turkish army.
A corporal major with severe injuries was transferred to Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Hospital on a helicopter but could not be rescued despite all efforts. (EKN/DG)
