At least 30 refugees lost their lives while crossing the Aegean Sea in three separate incidents in a week.
Thirteen refugees died after a boat carrying more than 80 people capsized off Paros island yesterday (December 24), according to Greece's state-run AMNA news agency.
Sixty-three refugees were rescued by Greece's coast guards and search efforts are continuing, the agency reported.
On Thursday, 11 refugees lost their lives after a boat capsized off Greece's Antikythera island. Coast guards reportedly rescued about 90 people, including 27 children.
A day before, at least seven refugees died after a boat capsized near the Folegandros island. Twelwe refugees were rescued.
Between the start of the year and the end of November, more than 2,500 people either lost their lives or went missing while trying to reach Europe, according to UN figures. About 8,500 people managed to reach Greece. (RT/VK)
