The Prime Ministry Council To Protect Children From Sexually Explicit Materials has decided that the March issue of the women's magazine Elle contained "some articles and photographs which were found obscene and harmful for minors' psychology"
The decision published on the Official Gazette (March 24) today demand some restrictions be imposed on the magazine according to the Protection of Minors From Sexually Explicit Materials Act.
Accordingly, the magazine should be marked as "harmful for minors'" and be placed in an opaque envelope or bag.
Elle had said "Everybody should be a feminist"
On the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day, the March issue of Elle magazine was published with the editorial "More women" and covered issues such as "Everybody should be Feminists", "Fashion became obsessed with feminism".
Also an article by bianet's women and LGBTI news editor Çiçek Tahaoğlu with the title "The State of Male Violence in 2016" was on the March 2017 issue of Elle. The article addressed the Male Violence Monitoring Reports prepared by bianet since 2008, vast number of femicide cases and the flagrant violation of women's right to life. (BK/DG)
