The prosecutor's office has presented the final opinion as to the accusations in the trial over the sexual abuse of two children in Antalya's Elmalı.
The office has requested that the mother, step father and maternal uncle of the siblings be penalized for "sexual abuse" and "torment".
The hearing will be held on November 15.
In the prosecutor's opinion pronounced ahead of the hearing, it has been indicated that the statements of the defendants, children, involved parties and witnesses as well as the medical reports, Forensic Medical Institution reports and expert reports have been examined together.
Referring to a "contradiction" in the children's statements at court and during the investigation, the office has indicated that their statements in the Balıkesir University Forensic Medical Polyclinic and the 6th Specialized Board of the Forensic Medical Institution report are to be considered.
Accordingly, the prosecutor's office has demanded that mother M.A., step father R.A. and maternal uncle S.G. be penalized for "sexually assaulting" and "tormenting" one child and "sexually assaulting" the other. While defendants face 11 years to 23 years in prison, the prosecutor has also demanded the defendants' arrest on the offenses charged.
What happened?
In 2020, paternal grandmother G.S. applied to the prosecutor's office in Balıkesir province, alleging that her two grandchildren had been subjected to sexual abuse. Paternal grandmother filed a criminal complaint against her ex-daughter-in-law M.A., her husband R.A. and the daughter-in-law's boyfriends. Launching an investigation upon this complaint, the prosecutor's office took the statements of the children.
Both in the statements that they gave and the pictures that they drew, the two children talked about the abuse that they had been subjected to. These pictures were then added to the investigation file.
At the third hearing held on January 6, 2021, the arrested mother and her arrested stepfather were released by the Elmalı Heavy Penal Court. (AÖ/SD)
