At the final hearing of the case held at the İstanbul 60th Penal Court of First Instance yesterday (July 14), Sıla Gençoğlu and Ahmet Kural were not present in the courtroom while the lawyers of the parties and the lawyer of the Minister of Family and Social Services attended the hearing.
Gençoğlu's lawyer requested that Kural be penalized at the upper limit and no good conduct time be given. Kural's lawyer demanded his acquittal.
Handing down its ruling after the statements, the court board has ruled that defendant Ahmet Kural shall be sentenced to 7 months, 15 days in prison on charge of "threat", to 5 months in prison on charge of "actual bodily harm" and to 4 months, 5 days in prison on charge of "insult." Kural has been sentenced to 1 year, 4 months, 20 days in prison in total.
Considering that "the defendant did not have a previous criminal record, his behavior during the trial, his lack or tendency to commit crimes and that he will not commit crimes in the future if his sentence is deferred," the court board has ruled that the prison sentence shall be deferred without conditions and Ahmet Kural shall be on probation for a period of 1 year.
