A group of women in Erzurum who wanted to protest violence against women greeted the President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with domestic-violence makeup. President Erdoğan was in Erzurum to attend the provincial congress of the AKP.
Members of the Association for Turkish Mothers greeted Erdoğan, who left the airport around noon time today (March 16) to go to the city center, at Erzurum Technical University crossing. The women stated that they organized such a greeting with the aim of attracting attention to violence against women and protesting child abuse cases.
President Erdoğan waved his hand at the women from the window of his car and proceeded to Ulu Cami (Grand Mosque) for the Friday prayers.
On March 8 Women's Day, similar protests were organized by women with domestic violence makeup in Adana, Antep and Eskişehir. (ŞA/SD)
