The İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has raised public transport fares by 29 percent starting from January 1.
With the hike, the full fare for public transport rose from 7.67 lira to 9.90 lira and the monthly subscription fee rose from 602 lira to 777 lira (1 US dollar = 18.71 Turkish lira).
For students, single use of public transport will be 4.83 lira and the monthly subscription fee will be 140 lira.
The minimum taxi fare has been increased from 28 to 40 lira. Taxi starting fee will be 12.65 lira.
The minimum fare for dolmuş has been set as 7 lira.
In 2022, the municipality raised public transport fares twice, with 36 percent and the start of the year and 40 percent in April. (HA/VK)
