Using kettle-only recipes from Gezi Park prisoners-1: Lentil balls

"The association of prisons with electric kettles in Turkey owes itself to Selahattin Demirtaş, one of the People's Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chairpersons who has been imprisoned for years. Although we haven't yet managed to send tweets from a kettle (our efforts are ongoing), his idea made us realize that the humble kettle we've been using to boil water in our kitchens is, in fact, a "professional-level cooker".

Pro producer Çiğdem Mater, who is detained in the Gezi Trial, wrote these in her article titled "What a Kettle Can Do?" published on bianet on September 1, 2022.

A "kettle-only cooking project" was initiated based on Mater's article. In this project, meals are prepared using a kettle only, following the recipes mentioned in the article, and adhering to the prison canteen's list.

Çiğdem Mater is a filmmaker, producer, and journalist. She was the executive producer of international projects such as Ai Weiwei's documentary Human Flow (İnsan Seli) and Mohamed Ben Attia's Weldi, the coordinator of Caucasian programs at Anadolü Kültür (2005-2009), the coordinator of Boğaziçi University Alam Film Center (2009-2010), and Turkey coordinator of the Turkey-Armenia Cinema Platform.

Mücella Yapıcı is an architect who served at the Chamber of Architects İstanbul branch starting in 2003 and played a very active role in the struggle to preserve the cultural and historical heritage of the city of İstanbul.

Mine Özerden is a documentarist, a human rights and ecosystem defender. She worked for civil society since 2001 and participated in many cultural and art projects, and studies on migrants, women, protection of natural life, etc.
