Ipsos has released the results of its Global Trustworthiness Index based on surveys conducted in 23 countries, including Turkey.
The results of the survey have shown that scientists are considered the most trustworthy profession in the world, closely followed by doctors.
Sharing its Global Trustworthiness Index with the public, Ipsos has indicated that while nine of 22 countries in the index have positive scores, which means that "most people consider them to be trustworthy rather than untrustworthy", the remaining 13 countries have negative scores.
Accordingly, scientists are the most trustworthy profession in 12 countries, namely Argentina, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Sweden and Turkey.
The Ipsos index has further indicated that doctors are the most trustworthy for citizens of Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Great Britain, South Africa, Spain and Sweden and teachers are the most trustworthy profession for the people living in Brazil and the US.
While people of India see armed forces as the most trustworthy profession, for the people of China, it is the police.
Politicians, religious officials least trusted in Turkey
The Ipsos survey has indicated the score of Turkey as -93, which shows distrust rather than trust towards several professions. That is, Turkey is one of the above-mentioned 13 countries which have negative scores, indicating higher levels of distrust with most professions.
According to the survey, the most trustworthy professions for the people of Turkey are scientists, doctors and teachers respectively. At the bottom of the list of trusted professions in Turkey are religious officials and politicians.
While politicians rank the worst with 11 percent, religious officials rank the second worst with 12 percent.
Politicians least trusted across the world
Ipsos has also shared the following commentary about the least trusted profession across the countries covered by the index:
"The survey, completed online by adults aged 16-64 in 22 countries, showed that while the most trustworthy profession varies across the countries covered, there is greater agreement on the professions considered to be untrustworthy. In all countries polled, politicians are seen as the most untrustworthy profession – globally, two thirds of the public consider politicians generally to be untrustworthy (67%) and almost six in ten say the same about Government Ministers (57%)."
