Releasing a statement about the 5.8-magnitude earthquake that hit İstanbul yesterday (September 2), the Emergency Management Center of İstanbul Governorship has announced that it has received notices of damage for 464 buildings across İstanbul as of this morning.
Indicating that the technical teams appointed by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization are conducting "preliminary assessment" works in houses and workplaces, primarily at hospitals, schools and public buildings, the Center has also shared information about the wounded.
"20 of 34 citizens of ours who were referred to hospitals received outpatient treatment and the treatment of our 14 citizens continues at different hospitals", the Center has indicated further.
One-day suspension at 14 schools
The Center has also shared information about the situation of schools in İstanbul. Indicating that 55 of the schools which were reported to be damaged as a result of the earthquake have been checked, it has announced that education has been suspended for a day at 14 schools that are foreseen to undergo a more detailed technical examination.
"There are no findings that point at a need to suspend education in 7,046 other schools", the Center as indicated further.
The one-day suspension is in effect in the following schools:
