The police carried out raids yesterday in the predominantly Kurdish-populated eastern province of Hakkari, resulting in the detention of 24 people.
Three of them have been arrested for "spreading propaganda for a terrorist organization" whereas 21 others have been released, including one under judicial supervision.
Similar developments unfolded in Batman, where three people were detained and subsequently brought to the courthouse. The individuals who were implicated in an investigation initiated by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding a congress of the HDP Youth Assembly were released under judicial supervision.
In yet another case, a total of 19 members of the HDP's Party Council were detained during an investigation related to the Newroz celebration in Ankara. However, they were later released by the court under travel bans and judicial supervision.
In a series of operations that have been carried out since last month, several Kurdish-linked groups, including the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and the Green Left Party, were targeted.
These operations not only affected political parties but also extended to lawyers and journalists, who found themselves entangled in terror-related investigations.
The groups have denounced the investigations that coincided with the election process. (NT/VK)
