Türkan Aslan, an attorney for late Deniz Poyraz, has spoken to the press about the latest developments in the investigation launched into her killing by an armed assailant at the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) İzmir Provincial Organization's office on June 17, 2021.
As reported by Melike Aydın from JinNews, Aslan says that they analyzed the Historical Traffic Search (HTS) records of the assailant's phone and found that the assailant was not acting on his own.
Arslan notes that "based on the HTS records, they have come to the conclusion that the attack was launched by an organizational structure."
Underlining that the arrest of the assailant within 24 hours after the attack has led the investigation to be carried out superficially, Aslan adds, "The prosecutor's office should conduct the investigation not only upon our requests, but it should also deepen the investigation by examining the new information and documents added to the file meticulously and sensitively in such a way that a new piece of evidence points to another evidence. Only in this way can the instigators and abettors of this bloody attack be identified."
Concluding her remarks, Aslan says that they have formed a request after examining the HTS records, but they have not yet submitted it to the prosecutor's office due to the judicial recess. The necessary proceedings will be undertaken on September 1, she adds. (RT/SD)
