Facing an arrest warrant in the trial over the assassination of Agos Newspaper's Editor-in-Chief Hrant Dink, Veysal Şahin has been detained.
At the 117th hearing of the lawsuit yesterday (January 6), the İstanbul 14th Heavy Penal Court ruled that the then Trabzon Gendarmerie Intelligence officers Veysal Şahin and Volkan Şahin should be arrested on the grounds that there was evidence showing that they had known about the murder beforehand and that they had been arrested for a short period of time.
Veysal Şahin has been detained in Adana. Taken into cusrody in the vicinity of his house in Adana, Şahin has been taken to the police department.

In the ongoing trial of public officials, there are currently 76 defendants in total, four arrested and 13 fugitives.
At the 117th hearing of the case yesterday, the trial continued with the defendants' statements of defense as to the accusations.
