Four people have been arrested in the investigation filed into the death of two workers in an unlicensed mine in Zonguldak.
An explosion took place in an unlicensed mine in the district of Kilimli in Turkey's Black Sea province of Zonguldak on December 25. Caused by methane gas entrapment at a 40-meter depth, the explosion wounded worker Bahri Yeniay (51) and claimed the lives of Erdem Korkmaz and Uğur Korkmaz, who were trapped under the ensuing debris.
Making a statement about the issue, the Governorship of Zonguldak has announced that the mine was previously controlled and closed by the gendarmerie officers who determined that it was empty.
As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), taken into custody as part of the investigation filed into the incident, the owners of the mine Şenol T., Fatih T. and Ercan T. and the owner of the site where the mine pit is located İshak K. have been arrested. (DB/SD)
