Taken into custody on November 15 after being removed from office, Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) Suruç District Co-Mayor Hatice Çevik was arrested yesterday (November 20).

As reported by the state-run AA, charged with "being a member of a terrorist organization" and "propagandizing for a terrorist organization", Çevik was arrested by the penal court of peace at the Urfa Courthouse.
Mezopotamya Agency (MA) has reported that Çevik has been sent to Urfa Type T Prison after the court ruled for her arrest.
In a statement released by the Urfa Governorship, it was announced that Suruç District Governor Kenan Aktaş has been appointed as a trustee in place of Co-Mayor Hatice Çevik, who was detained as part of an investigation conducted by the Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
As announced by the HDP in a report yesterday, trustees have been appointed to HDP's 24 municipalities since the last local elections on March 31, 2019. In the same report, the party has also indicated that the party won the elections in 65 municipalities in total. (AS/SD)
