Before the 88th hearing of the case, Hrant's Friends met in front of the courthouse, as they have done for 87 times before, and made a statement for the press. The statement was also attended by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Representative to Turkey Erol Önderoğlu and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MP Hüda Kaya.
Reading out the statement for the press on behalf of Hrant's Friends, Bülent Aydın reminded the audience that Hrant Dink was murdered on January 19, 2007 and repeated their demand for justice:
"It has been 13 years since Editor-in-Chief of Agos Newspaper Hrant Dink was murdered. The first hearings of this year will start today and will be completed in three days. The witnesses of the case continue to be heard. This week, the witnesses from the İstanbul and Ankara Police Intelligence Bureaus will be heard by the court.
"These witnesses are also witness to the mechanism which received the intelligence about this murder one year before, but did not do anything to prevent this murder. During all these hearings for the last 13 years, we have been listening over and over again how this vile murder was committed and how Hrant Dink was openly killed.
"We, Hrant's Friends are here"
"The 88th hearing of the case will be held in the 14th Heavy Penal Court. If we add the hearings where the instigators who were caught or turned themselves in right after the murder were tried, this case has been continuing for more than 100 hearings now and we, Hrant's Friends, are here, too.
"It is a case, where the murderers are known, the perpetrators are yet unknown; it is a case which has not yet been brought into the open, and the dark lid over it has not been taken off. We are here until everyone who had a part in the background and aftermath of Hrant Dink murder is put to trial and the darkness over this case emerges into the light.
"For Hrant, for justice, we are all Hrant, we are all Armenians. This case does not end before we say so." (HA/SD)
