A traffic accident in Bursa, northwestern Turkey, claimed the lives of three farm workers, two of whom were refugees, while 11 others were injured, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
The incident occurred in the Karacabey district, on the Bursa-Çanakkale highway when the van carrying the agricultural workers veered off the road and crashed into a field.
Emergency services, including firefighting teams, gendarmerie, and medical personnel, rushed to the scene upon notification of the accident.
Upon arrival, the rescue teams confirmed the unfortunate deaths of Mukaddes Can (42) and refugee Emine el Mohammed (57), who were in the open-bed van.
The critically injured refugee Abid Muhammed passed away while being transported to Bursa Uludağ University Hospital.
Among the injured were the vehicle's driver, Hüsen Feris, as well as Nuriye Sayılır (51), Nihat Yusuf Hüseyin (28), Abdullah el Muhammed (43), Ayşe el Ramadan (38), Usame el Muhammed (12), Sana Feris (19), Hulva Hüseyin (20), Kamile Kaya (49), Muhammed Cezim Muhammed, and Şuhela Kazı Muhammed, all of whom were taken to Bandırma State Hospital.
It was revealed that the farm workers inside the vehicle were en route to the rural Tophisar Neigborhood from Karacabey city center at the time of the accident. (HA/VK)
