An explosion occurred in a factory manufacturing paint and varnish in İstanbul's Asian-side district of Tuzla.
Three workers of the factory were killed and nine others were wounded, the Governor's Office of İstanbul announced. The statement identified killed workers with their initials, T.A., M.Ö. and T.T.
The explosion and the subsequent fire damaged buildings and vehicles around the factory, according to the statement. The fire was put off by firefighters.
Some burning fragments scattered around after the explosion and caused a fire in a nearby forest area, NTV reported.
İstanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into the incident.
