The workers of Migros Depo, the warehouse of Turkey's one of the largest supermarket chains, halted work in protest on February 3.
Amid this ongoing srike, the police stormed the warehouse in İstanbul's Esenyurt in the evening yesterday (February 8) while the workers were waiting inside the warehouse as part of their strike action.

Blockaded by the police, some of the warehouse workers were taken out of the warehouse while over 150 workers as well as the Chair and two executives of the Warehouse, Port, Dock and Maritime Workers Union (DGD-SEN) were taken into custody by the police.

Several social media users also denounced the detention of the workers. Hashtags "Give the rights Migros depo" (Hakları ver Migros depo) and "Migros boycott" (Migros boykot) became trending topics.
The detained workers and union executives were taken to the Kıraç police station in Esenyurt. They were released late at night.
Making a statement afterwards, workers have said, "We will come again. We will never abandon the resistance."

Workers' requests
Halting work since February 3, the workers of Migros Depo demand that their net hourly wages be increased by 4 Turkish Lira (TRY), the payment of premiums be legally guaranteed and the necessary measures be taken for labor health and safety. (TP/SD)
