The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) has announced that the unemployment rate in Turkey in March 2018 is 10.1 percent.
The number of unemployed people has decreased by 432 thousand people in comparison with March 2017 and has become 3 million and 201 thousand people. As for the unemployment rate, it has fallen by 1.6 points in comparison with the same month last year and has fallen by 0.5 point in comparison with February 2018.
The youth (ages of 15-24) unemployment rate has also decreased by 3.7 points and become 17.7 percent while the unemployment rate in the age group of 15-64 has fallen by 1.7 percent and become 10.3 percent.
Labor force in March 2018 has increased by 578 thousand people in comparison with the same month last year and reached 31 million 709 thousand people. The rate of participation in labor force has also increased by 0.2 percent and become 52.4 percent.
The comparisons made for the same periods have shown that while the participation in labor force among men has increased by 0.1 percent and become 71.8 percent, the participation in labor force among women has increased by 0.5 percent and become 47.1.
The number of people employed in March 2018 has increased by 1 million and 10 thousand people in comparison with the same month last year and reached 28 million 499 thousand people and the rate of employment has increased by 1 point and has been measured as 47.1 percent. (TP/SD)
