The Diyarbakır Governor's Office has announced that all types of meetings and outdoor-indoor protests and events (gatherings, marches, press statements, hunger strikes, sit-ins, opening of stands, setting up tents, distribution of leaflets and handouts, hanging banners/ placards, etc.) have been banned in the province for a period of 10 days, except for the ones permitted by the Governor's Office and sub-governor's offices.
As the reason for the ban imposed on the Kurdish-majority province, the statement of the Governor's Office has cited "maintaining public order and security and ensuring the safety of life and property, personal immunity and security and public well-being concerning disposal".
As per the Article 11/C of the Provincial Administration Law no. 5442 and the Article 19 of the Law no. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations, the related demonstrations, meetings and events will be banned in the province and its districts for a period of 10 days starting from 12.01 am on March 26, 2022 (Saturday) until 11.59 pm on April 4.
