Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Ankara MP Yıldırım Kaya shared the video of violence against children on Twitter.
He said, "The images were captured in a boy's dormitory of Süleymancılar religious community in İstanbul's Esenler". Addressing the Ministry of National Education, Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu and Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ, he asked: "What has been done to ensure that these unconscientious people are brought to justice. Have they got away with it?"

Statement by the Governor's Office
In a statement about the incident on Twitter, the Governor's Office of İstanbul has announced that "the dorm official who inflicted violence on students at a private male student's dormitory in Esenler has been taken into custody as part of the judicial investigation".
The Office has also announced that the Provincial Directorate of National Education has launched an administrative investigation by assigning an inspector to look into the matter. "This violent treatment of our students is unacceptable, we condemn it regretfully," the Office has said.
Questions to ministers
CHP MP Yıldırım has also submitted a Parliamentary question to be answered by Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ and Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu.
The main opposition MP has asked the Ministers:
- Will your Ministry interfere in the trial to protect children's rights?
- How many secondary, high school and university students stay in the dormitories of religious communities and cults?
- How many dormitories does the Süleymancılar religious community have in Turkey? In which cities? What is their capacity?
- How many dormitories do other religious communities and cults have in Turkey? In which cities? What is their capacity?
- What works are undertaken by your Ministry to build a state dorm?
- Will your Ministry terminate the protocols made with the dormitories belonging to religious communities and cults?
