As part of an investigation conducted by the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous raids were conducted on several houses in the provinces of Adana, Şırnak and Dersim today (May 24).
20 people have been taken into custody; among the detained are also the executives of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP). Charged with "being members of a terrorist organization", they are reportedly held in Adana Security Directorate.
As reported by Mezopotamya Agency (MA), some of the detained are as follows: HDP Adana executive Mehmet Yaşık, Association for Assistance with the Families of Arrestees and Convicts (TUAYDER) Çukurova executive Mehmet Tutuş, Cigerhum Güven, Şinda Erol, Beritan Özbey.
AA: Operation against the PKK/KCK
On the other side, the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) has reported on the incident as an "operation against the actions and activities of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) / Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) terrorist organization." The agency has said that the doors of the houses were broken down with hammerheads and searches were conducted there.
The AA has further reported that the detained people have been taken to the security directorate following the medical checks at medical institutions.
According to the news, the detained are charged with "engaging in activities in the political structure of the KCK, transferring organization members to the rural areas, arsoning vehicles and throwing molotov cocktails and improvised explosives by using the HDP Youth Assembly as a cover..." (TP/SD)
