Detained in İstanbul's Kadıköy district while protesting the appointment of Melih Bulu as a rector to Boğaziçi University by ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, 10 people were referred to court to be arrested yesterday (February 4).
While two of these 10 people, Şilan Delibalta and Anıl Akyüz, have been arrested by the court, two people have been placed under house arrest and six have been released with an international travel ban.
82 of the ones taken into custody in Kadıköy were released on Wednesday (February 3) after the related procedures were completed at the security directorate. With their periods of detention extended, 23 people were referred to the prosecutor's office yesterday afternoon.
Of these 23 people who gave their statements to the prosecutor's office at İstanbul Anadolu Courthouse in Kartal, 10 were referred to court with a request for their arrest and 13 for their release on probation.
While 11 of the 13 people referred to court during the day were placed under house arrest, two were released with an international travel ban.
Of the 10 people referred to court to be arrested, Şilan Delibalta and Anıl Akyüz have been arrested, three others have been placed under house arrest and five people have been released with an international travel ban.

Taken into custody over a picture of the Kaaba with a Shahmaran figure and four LGBTI+ pictures on its corners displayed at the South Campus as part of Boğaziçi University protests, two students were arrested and two were placed under house arrest on January 30, 2021 on charge of "degrading or provoking the public to enmity or hatred."
