Having announced that he was thrown from a helicopter in Turkey's eastern province of Van and subjected to torture, Osman Şiban was taken into custody in a house raid in Mersin this morning (January 12).
As reported by Mezopotamya Agency (MA), Şiban was detained in an operation conducted by the police as part of an investigation launched by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. He was reportedly taken to the Toros State Hospital in an ambulance for a medical check.
While Şiban is still in treatment for his previous wounds, the medical board was expected to convene for his examination.
It was reported that after the related formalities were completed there, Şiban would be taken to Van province, where the investigation is conducted.
After the specialist physician examined Şiban, he has prepared a report indicating that he is not in a medical state to travel.
Şiban has been released based on this report.

On September 11, 2020, Osman Şiban and Servet Turgut were detained in Çatak district in Van province, they were both subjected to torture. Turgut lost his life while being treated at the hospital. Şiban was taken to Mersin, where his family lives, for his treatment. (AS/SD)
