Police intervention against HDP’s press statement

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) İstanbul Organization previously announced that it would hold a statement for the press to raise concerns about the ongoing hunger strikes in prisons against the isolation of jailed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı Prison.

Later in the day today (December 18), the HDP İstanbul Provincial Organization has announced that its Central Executive Committee members and MPs have been battered and taken into custody by the police who intervened into the press statement of the party in İstanbul.

Sharing a video and a brief statement on its Twitter account, HDP İstanbul has said, "That was how our statement condemning isolation was intervened. Several people including our Central Executive Committee members and executives have been detained. Among the battered are also our MP Sezai Temelli and Ferhat Encü. Not only prisons, but the entire country has been in isolation. We will resist and break down the isolation!"
