Six-year-old Efe Tektekin has lost his life after he was hit by an armored vehicle belonging to the police in the southeastern Diyarbakır province. The incident occurred on September 11 on Emek Street in Bağlar district.
Brought to Dicle University Faculty of Medicine after the crash, Tektekin could not be saved despite all the medical intervention.
Tektekin's body was brought to Selahattin Eyyubi State Hospital for autopsy procedures. His funeral will be held at Yeniköy Cemetery in Diyarbakır.
Tektekin's grandfather, Mehmet Tektekin (85), was also killed when he was struck by a crowd control vehicle on June 6, 2018.
36 killed by armored vehicles in 10 years
According to a report by the Human Rights Association (İHD) Diyarbakır Branch published in June, at least 63 armored vehicle crash events took place in the last 10 years. A total of 36 people, including 16 children and 6 women, were killed in the incidents.
* On April 27, 2016, Hatun Elhuman (55) was killed after being hit by an armored military vehicle on Gevran Street in Diyarbakır.
* On June 7, 2016, Bünyamin Bayram (6) was struck and killed by an armored vehicle in Cizre district of Şırnak.
* On July 24, 2016, Taha Kılıç (4) was struck and killed by a "Kirpi" type armored vehicle in front of the İpekyolu District Security Directorate in Van.
* On September 6, 2016, Naciye Özdemir (71) was struck and killed by a "Kobra" type armored vehicle Seyit Rıza Square in Dersim.
* On October 24, 2016, an armored police vehicle hit five-year-old Hakan Sarak in Cizre, Şırnak. Police vehicle escaped, the boy bled to death.
* On February 9, 2017, Berfin Dilek (7) was hit and killed by an armored police vehicle in Dargeçit, Mardin.
* On March 4, 2017, Kerem Arslan (34) was killed after he was run over by an armored vehicle on Siirt-Batman road.
* On 21 March 2017, in İdil, Şırnak, a car was hit by an "Ejder" type armored vehicle on the road to Cizre district. Okan İnce, Bahadır Beyazlıoğlu and a person whose name can not be learned were killed in the car.
* In April 28, 2017, Sami Uçan, one of the two people who were hit by an armored police vehicle, was killed in the hospital in Van.
* On May 4, 2017, two brothers, Furkan and Muhammed Yıldırım were killed after an armored police vehicle crashed into their house in Silopi, Şırnak.
* On 14 June 2017, Pakize Hazar (70) was killed after being hit by an armored vehicle in Lice, Diyarbakır. The Caspian lost his life.
* On June 19, 2017, Remzi Menteşe and a child whose name could not be learned were killed and 18 people were injured in a village shuttle that was hit by an armored vehicle the Diyarbakır-Bingöl road.
* On June 20, 2017, the vehicle carrying villagers who visited Pakize Hazar's home to express condolences was hit by an "Ejder" type armored vehicle. Mahmut Öner (74), Mevlüt Dağtaş (64), Abdulhamit Dağtaş (63), Fikri Demirbaş (53) and his mother Zeyel Demirbaş were killed in the incident.
* On July 18, 2017, Sürmi İnce (55) was hit and killed by an armored police vehicle in Yüksekova, Hakkari.
* On August 2, 2017, Syrian child Raşid Oso (7) was hit and killed by an armored vehicle in Okmeydanı, İstanbul.
* On October 19, 2017, Gülten Yaraşlı (55) was hit and killed by an armored vehicle on Hizan-Tatvan highway.
* On October 19, 2017, Felek Batur (6) was hit and killed by an "Ejder" type armored vehicle in Çal Neighborhood in Siirt.
* On June 6, 2018, Mehmet Tentekin (75) was killed after being hit by an armored vehicle in Bağlar, Diyarbakır.
