New video footage has come out showing the moment when main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was attacked by a group of people during the funeral of a soldier in the village of Akkuzulu in Çubuk, Ankara on April 21.
The video has shown that the group was shouting insults at Kılıçdaroğlu and they were also throwing stones when Kılıçdaroğlu was being taken to a supposedly safe house. It can also be seen in the video that there were people with wooden and metal sticks in their hands.
Some people from the crowd were heard to be shouting, "Let's shoot him, let's kill him." Some of them also linked arms in an attempt to prevent Kılıçdaroğlu from leaving the scene of incident.
In one of the most striking moments of the video, the chief of police was addressing the crowd by saying, "If you want to hurt anyone here, you should first lynch me and other members of the security. Do you want it?"
Erdoğan said 'CHP harassed citizens'
Speaking at the the 28th Consultation and Evaluation Meeting of AKP in Kızılcahamam, Ankara yesterday (April 28), President and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan blamed the CHP for the attack in following words:
"We object to the harassment of a martyr's relatives and the people of a district, we are against them being accused of being terrorists and insulted.
"We say, 'If you collaborate with the party guided by the terrorist organization, you will make our martyrs turn in their graves,' they show the incident as legitimization.
"My citizens in Çubuk are already hurt, you will harass them and make them equal with terrorists..."
"We remember it quite well that when a police officer fell martyr, CHP Chair said, 'Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.'
"We are not lynching anyone, we are defending the sacred memories of our martyrs. As if it was not them who allied with the party that said 'We lean our back against the PKK!', the CHP mentality is talking about the Kuvayi Milliye [Turkish Revolutionaries]."
