An investigation has been launched against Food Engineer Asst. Prof. Dr. Bülent Şık, who has also been writing the weekly column "Mutfaktaki Kimyacı" (Chemist in the Kitchen) for bianet.
Bülent Şık has announced the investigation on his personal Twitter and Facebook accounts and stated that the investigation has been launched on the ground of his social media posts.
Speaking to bianet, Şık has said that he does not know which social media posts have been cited as the reason for the investigation. Şık has added:
"It is the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office which gave the instruction that 'his statement shall be taken.' For a short time period in the past, I moved my residential address to İstanbul. I think, for that reason, the related document was sent to İstanbul and I have been summoned to depose at the İstanbul Beyoğlu Security Directorate.
"I do not know the details. I have not seen the document sent by the Prosecutor's Office. I cannot know which social media posts of mine they regarded as crime. They said that the document would reach Antalya in 15-20 days. The attorneys cannot reach its content, either.
"It is certain that the investigation has been launched due to my social media posts, they stated it. They said, 'You will see it when the document comes'."
About Bülent ŞıkFood Engineer. In his PhD studies, he specialized in the development of environmentally friendly methods of analysis. He worked for several laboratories operating as part of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock. In 2009, he started working as lecturer at the Akdeniz University and took active part in the establishment of its Food Security and Agricultural Research Center. From 2010 to 2015, he was the Technical Deputy Director at the same center. While he was working as a lecturer at the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, he was discharged as per the Statutory Decree no. 677 on November 22, 2016. |
