Journalist Adil Yiğit, who has been living in Germany for almost 35 years, previously received a letter from the Hamburg Central Foreigners' Registration Office, demanding that he leave Germany until January 20, 2019 the latest "on the grounds that the unity of the family had disappeared, he no longer lived with his children and he was without a job".

As reported by Deutsche Welle Türkçe, Spokesperson of the Hamburg Central Foreigners' Registration Office made a statement yesterday (October 29) and announced that journalist Adil Yiğit will not be deported from Germany "for humanitarian reasons".
Spokesperson stated that in case the residence permit of Yiğit is not extended for different reasons, he can still be provided with a residence permit "for humanitarian reasons".
Indicating that a decision of deportation was given for the journalist "as a result of the legal procedure", Spokesperson also added that the related decision will not be put into effect.
What happened?
During the joint press conference of President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel in Berlin on September 28, 2018, journalist Adil Yiğit protested Erdoğan with a shirt "Freedom to Journalists" written on it.
Yiğit, who has been living in Germany for the last 35 years, has recently been informed by the Hamburg Central Foreigners' Registration Office that his residence permit will not be extended.
A few days later, Yiğit received a letter from the same office, demanding that Yiğit leave Germany until January 20, 2019 on the stated grounds that "the unity of the family had disappeared, he no longer lived with his children and he was without a job". (EMK/SD)
