The Co-Mayor of the Kömür town Hüseyin Yuka, the Gerger District Co-Chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Mahmut Özdemir and Hasan Tunç, who were detained in house raids after four soldiers were killed in a military operation conducted in the rural area around the town of Kömür in Turkey's southeastern province of Adıyaman, were arrested yesterday (August 20).
After giving their depositions at the Prosecutor's Office in Adıyaman Courthouse, they were referred to court to be arrested on charge of "aiding and abetting a terrorist organization knowingly and willfully."
Having deposed at the Court on Duty, Yuka, Özdemir and Tunç were arrested on the related charge and sent to the Adıyaman Prison.
What happened?
One soldier died by an explosive detonated during an operation in Adıyaman. Adıyaman Governorship announced that three more soldiers died by "friendly fire" opened on the vehicle that came for evacuation.
