In an attack launched by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the district of Eruh in Turkey's southeastern province of Siirt this morning (March 30), six village guards have lost their lives, four soldiers and three village guards have been wounded.
The names of the village guards who have been killed in the attack are: Mehmet Oktay, Sıddık Ertaş, Abdullah Yüztaş, Mehmet Eren, Nevzat Gökçe and Seyfettin Başkurt.
In a written statement issued by the Governorship of Siirt, it has been stated, "Our wounded security forces have been referred to Siirt Public Hospital for treatment."
The security forces were in the district of Eruh at the time of the attack to provide security for the construction equipment used for the road construction works.
An operation has been launched in the region. (AS/SD)
