Six more people have been arrested in Antep due to their social media posts about Afrin operation, increasing the number of arrestees to at least 32 in Turkey.
There is Labor Party (EMEP) Deputy Chair Mehmet Türkmen among the people who were arrested by Antep 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior on January 29, 311 people have been detained due to their social media posts about Afrin operation on charge of “terrorism propaganda”.
The military operation that started on January 20 is on its 12th day. At least 26 people were arrested in the last 11 days.
Detentions in Ağrı and Eskişehir
Eight people in Ağrı, five others in Eskişehir have been detained due to their social media posts.
The detainees are kept in Ağrı Security Directorate as part of the investigation launched by Ağrı Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on charge of “propagandizing for the PKK/KCK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party/Kurdistan Communities Union)”.
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Ağrı Provincial Chair Maşuk Arpaç is among the arrestee as well.
Five people were detained in Eskişehir on charges of “propagandizing for the PKK/KCK” and “insulting the president”. (AS/TK)
