Six soldiers from the Turkish Armed Forces and two village guards lost their lives in a clash that occurred between soldiers of Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and members of Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) towards this morning in Şemdinli district of the predominantly Kurdish province of Hakkari in eastern Turkey. Two soldiers have been wounded during the clash. One of them is severely injured.
According to newspaper reports, five PKK members were killed in the clash as well.
An operation has been launched in the region with participation of helicopters. (AS/DG)
