10 rights advocates taken into custody during a training workshop on July 5 in Büyükada and brought before prosecutor's office on their 13th day in detention have been referred to court for arrest after testifying.
The decision of the court was delivered at 10:50 p.m.
The rights defenders were brought to İstanbul Çağlayan Courthouse at 12 a.m. today (July 17) and their interrogation before the Prosecutor's Office begun at 2 p.m.
The names of the 10 rights defenders taken into custody on July 5 and were referred to court for arrest are:
Nalan Erkem and Özlem Dalkıran (Helsinki Citizens Assembly), İlknur Üstün (Women's Coalition), İdil Eser (Human Rights Watch Director to Turkey) and Veli Acu (Human Rights Agenda Association), Günal Kurşun (Human Rights Agenda Association), Nejat Taştan (Association for Monitoring Equal Rights), Şeyhmuz Özbekli (Rights Initiative), Ali Garawi (human rights trainer), and Peter Steudtner (German citizen human rights trainer).
