In a democratic mass demonstration, they both shot and imposed a heavy penalty on Sibel Çapraz. The court has not launched a proper investigation yet into those who shot my sister.
In the final hearing held before Yüksekova High Criminal Court, my sister Sibel Çapraz was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison on charge of "being a member of an illegal organization" [...] while she was acquitted from charges of "inciting people to hatred and hostility".
Sibel was arrested on March 2, 2016. The court has sentenced her to house arrest on probation [...]. Last month she had an operation on her bowel and gallbladder. She is still to have three further operations on her arm.
What is the rationale behind sentencing Sibel in such a mad rush where there has been no investigation yet launched into the ones who shot her?
Are death, injuring and imprisonment the punishment for doing politics, taking a Kurdish stand and acting with conscience? Taking away the right to a fair trial and judgement based on forged evidence and witnesses is not called justice. Nor it contributes to the domestic peace in a country.
Shoot someone and then call her/him a member of an illegal organization. And than punish them. I wish for justice for everyone. (NÇ/HK/DG)
