Unemployment Rate Rises: 10.9% in 2016

Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the workforce data for the 2016.

Turkey wide, the number of the unemployed among people above the age of 15, has risen by 276,000 and reached 3,330,000 in 2016.
The unemployment rate has risen by 0.6% and reached 10.9%.

Rise in unemployment of men: 0.4%, of women: 1.1%

The unemployment rate of men has risen by 0.4% and reached 9.6%. With a rise by 1.1%, the unemployment rate of women has reached 13% .

The unemployment rate in non-agricultural sectors has risen by 0.6% and reached 13%.

The figures for the the age group of 15-24 is 19.6% with a rise of 1.1% and for the age group of 15-64 11.1% with a rise of 0.6%.

Employment rate is 46.3%

According to the data of TÜİK, the number of people employed in 2016 has increased by 584,000 compared to the previous year and reached 27,000,205. The employment rate has reached 46.3% with a rise of 0,3%.

The employment rate of men has risen by 0.1% and reached 65.1%. With a rise by 0.5%, the employment rate of women has reached 28%.(HK/YY/DG)
