Survey: 76 percent of parents think schools increase coronavirus cases

The NG Research Company has shared the results of its survey regarding the normalization in education in Turkey amid the pandemic.

The surveys were participated by 1,343 parents and students over the age of 15 between October 12 and 28, 2021.

While seven out of every 10 parents say that they are content with the reopening of schools, this rate is 50 percent among students.

The participants of the survey, both students and parents, were asked, "Do you think that online education is adequate?"

While 38.04 percent of the respondents said, "It is not adequate", 30.98 percent indicated, "it is not adequate at all." 3.53 percent said that "it was very adequate", 9.05 percent said that "it was adequate" and 18.4 percent of the respondents said that "it was neither adequate nor inadequate."

'Will schools be closed again?'

The respondents were also asked a question about in-class education, which has been resuming in Turkey since September 6.

In response to the question "Do you think that the opening of schools will lead to an increase in the number of coronavirus cases," 75.94 percent said, "Yes, I do." While 15 percent indicated that the opening of schools "would not have an effect on cases", 9.2 percent "had no idea".

When they were asked whether they found the COVID-19 measures at schools adequate or not, 17 percent said, "Measures are adequate." The rate of those who found the measures inadequate was 52.47 percent.

56.59 percent of the respondents indicated that "the schools would not be closed" when they were asked, "Do you think that schools will be closed again before the first semester ends and online education will resume?" 28.84 percent of the respondents answered in the affirmative.

While two out of every three parents who participated in the survey said that in-class education would continue, one out of every two students were of the opinion that in-class education would continue. (RT/SD)
