This year, the LÖSEV Foundation for Children with Leukemia organizes the National Week for Children with Leukemia in order to support children struggling with leukemia and to raise awareness about leukemia.
To be marked on November 2-8, the week will draw attention with the message "I throw off my mask and run to my dreams!"
Exactly 24 years ago children with leukemia who could not go anywhere except their hospital room wanted a television from their papa smurf Dr. Üstün Ezer. However, when the hospital management turned down this request, Dr. Üstün Ezer and his friends founded LÖSEV and helped children achieve their dreams. Founded on November 8, 1998, LÖSEV dedicated its foundation day to children with leukemia and their families on November 2-8, as the National Week for Children with Leukemia.
Aiming to raise awareness, the foundation will continue to draw attention to leukemia, which is the most common one among childhood cancers, with different activities to be held throughout the week.
Orange, which is the color of the week and leukemia, will instill hope in children who are under treatment for the disease and also emphasize the duties of individuals and society to fight against leukemia.
Many buildings, passages, bridges, skyscrapers, monuments, hundreds of points illuminated at night will support the week with orange lighting during the 2-8 November National Week for Children with Leukemia.
Awareness seminars will be held by LÖSEV throughout the week and the school bells will ring as the LÖSEV Anthem.
In addition to the public and institutions, mannequins and employees in many socially responsible brands will support the week by wearing orange masks.
At the end of the week, news that will instill hope in Turkey will be shared one after the other. 178 children with leukemia who were treated and recovered at Lösante will throw off masks. Special entertainments and Mask Throwing Parties will be organized in İstanbul, Ankara and Nevşehir trips.
