Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines has announced that the company will resume flights from the United Kingdom (UK) and Denmark.
As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), Bilal Ekşi, the CEO of Turkish Airlines, has written on Twitter:
"Based on the decision taken by our authorities, the passengers from the UK and Denmark will be allowed to arrive in Turkey on condition of performing a negative PCR test that was done in the last 72 hours."
Turkey joined other European countries last December in banning flights from the UK, Denmark, Netherlands, South Africa, because of concerns about a new fast-moving coronavirus strain. The decision was announced by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca on December 20.
Latest situation in Turkey
According to the latest data shared by the Health Ministry, 362 people lost their lives in Turkey due to COVID-19 yesterday (April 21), which has marked the highest daily number of deaths in the country so far.
While the daily number of new cases has been announced by the Ministry as 61,967, the number of patients has been announced as 2,932.
According to the figures announced till today, 44,728,595 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Turkey so far. While the total number of cases is 4,446,591, the death toll has reached 36,975 people. (TP/SD)
