While experts have been calling on citizens to get vaccinated against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) when their turn comes, 25 percent of those who have been eligible so far have not been vaccinated.
As reported by Nuray Babacan from Hürriyet, experts have announced that 75 percent of the people were vaccinated against the virus when their turn came. They have made the following warning to people:
"Just think that the vaccine protects by 80 percent. Taken together with the ones who are not vaccinated and where no results can be obtained despite vaccination, there will emerge a high risk group."
According to the reports, the majority of those who have not been vaccinated against the virus despite being eligible are the women working at home. While fear has been cited as the first reason for not getting vaccinated, the second reason has been indicated as anti-vaccination.
25 percent to be vaccinated at last stage
According to the Health Ministry's official website on COVID-19 vaccination campaign, 18 million 515 thousand 988 doses have been administered in Turkey so far. The number of people who have received the second dose of the vaccine is 7 million 589 thousand 386.
It is known that China's CoronaVac vaccine used in Turkey becomes effective nearly two weeks after the second dose was taken.
On the other side, the Ministry previously specified the vaccination groups. According to this list, healthcare personnel and the people aged over 60 are vaccinated at the first stage. They are followed by the people working in primary service sectors and people aged 50 to 54 at the second stage and the ones with chronic diseases and other groups at the third stage.
As for the fourth stage of COVID-19 vaccination, the persons who were not vaccinated though their turn came will be vaccinated at that stage.
That is to say, the 25 percent who were not vaccinated despite being eligible will have to wait for the other three groups to get vaccinated.
However, for the persons who offer excuses such as suffering from inflammatory diseases, the vaccination appointment system is not closed. The COVID-19 vaccine can be administered to them when they recover, without waiting for the other groups. (TP/SD)
