The Turkish Medical Association (TTB) has announced that the number of healthcare workers who lost their lives due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has increased to 302 as of December 28, 2020.
While the majority of COVID-19 deaths took place in İstanbul, which was followed by Ankara, İzmir and Diyarbakır, 274 deceased workers were men and 28 were women, according to the TTB statement.
Most recently, five healthcare workers lost their lives yesterday (December 28). TTB has indicated that Dr. Hakan Türkoğlu, a Public Health Specialist from Denizli, Hakkı Durna, a Clerk from the Emergency Service of the Trabzon Haçkalı Baba State Hospital, Ramazan Ak, a Surgical Technician from a private hospital in Mersin, a Pharmacist Ömer Gürkan from Adana and Dr. Yavuz Durmuş, a Radiologist from the Bursa High Specialization Training and Research Hospital, died of COVID-19 yesterday.
Sharing a brief message on its Twitter account, the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) has said, "We are dying with each passing day, with each passing minute. We are dying. You cannot manage it."
