The Ministry of Interior has announced that a legal or administrative action was taken against 39,146 people for failing to comply with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions between December 7 and 14.
Turkey ended a countrywide weekend curfew early Monday (December 14) aimed at helping to stem the spread of the COVID-19. The curfew began on Friday at 9 p.m. and ended on Monday at 5 a.m.
President and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on November 30 announced new coronavirus restrictions, including a curfew on weeknights and full weekend curfews.
Releasing a written statement within this context, the Ministry of Interior has announced that citizens complied with the restrictions to a considerable extent in the second week of the partial curfews.
According to the statement of the ministry, a legal or administrative action was taken against 39 thousand 146 people as per the Law on Public Health and the related articles of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK).
The Ministry statement has indicated that the restrictions have made a positive impact on the COVID-19 figures in the country.

The Ministry of Health announced the latest figures on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Turkey yesterday (December 13).
While the daily number of new cases has been announced by the Ministry as 26,919, the number of patients has been announced as 5,103.
218 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in Turkey in the last 24 hours. 22,215 people have recovered. The number of tests conducted in the last 24 hours has been announced as 181,199.
According to the figures announced till today, 21,079,716 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Turkey so far. While the total number of cases is 1,836,728, the death toll has reached 16,417 people.
CLICK - Countrywide weekend curfew comes into effect
Amid a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in Turkey, it was decided to impose a curfew on weeknights and full weekend curfews.
While the weekend curfews begin on Friday at 9 p.m. and end on Monday at 5 a.m, the curfew is in effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weekdays. (AS/SD)
